A Belle Isle Engagement Session – Richmond, Virginia

Maddie contacted me about her engagement session during my giveaway last year and was chosen as a winner after hearing about her and Clayton’s story. I absolutely adored the the way they described their relationship and the things they love most about each other. Clayton explained that Maddie is the most considerate person he knows and she is always going above and beyond for him and their relationship even when he is not home. Clayton has been deployed overseas until recently and both Maddie and Clayton depend on each other to lift their spirits after a bad day. Even after the little time I spent with them, I could see how apparent their love for each other is.

Maddie and I decided to hold off on their engagement session until spring time, after they knew more about when Clayton would return home. Unfortunately, springtime in Virginia can be so unpredictable. Just last week it was snowing and the weather was calling for thunderstorms during the morning we had planned their session. But, Maddie agreed to move forward with their plans for their sunrise session and I am OH so glad they were up for a little risk!

Y’all! Sunrise sessions are ALWAYS worth it. I know how painful it can be to wake up before the sun, especially on a weekend. But, most times, sunrise sessions mean gorgeous glowy light and virtually no people. I always suggest considering a sunrise engagement session if you are planning on going to a location with a lot of people.
