VCU & Canal Walk Engagement in Richmond, VA

I always find it to be such a wonderful love story when two people have known each other most of their lives – next door neighbors, growing up together, these kind of things are what love stories are made of. Shawn and Nicole have that kind of love story and are two of the most genuine people I have ever met. My husband works with Shawn and they were even in the same recruit school together so when I received an e-mail from Nicole asking me to photograph their wedding I was extremely honored!

Shawn and Nicole lived around the corner from each other their entire lives, both their families attended the same church and they both played guitar in their church praise band. It was music that brought these two together and they developed a great connection as the two guitarists in the church band. They learned to anticipate each other’s thoughts and Nicole says she felt as though they communicated effortlessly without ever using words (cue the heart eyes).

When Nicole mentioned wanting to do their engagement session at VCU where they both went to college, I was so happy they chose a place that holds meaning for them. We ventured around VCU, trying to find a spot without too many people and eventually made our way down to the Canal Walk where we walked alongside the canal until sunset.
